Ravin' over Disney On Ice: Rockin' ever After!!

From The opening curtain, my family was mesmerized. We LOVE Disney, that is not a surprise to anyone who knows our family, and "Disney On Ice : Rockin' Ever After" was another example of why we always will!! I couldn't stop smiling as I watched my family so enraptured as their beloved stories came alive on the ice in front of us. The colors were incredible, and the music had everyone jumping and dancing. A favorite moment came when Ariel's sisters and Sebastian from "The Little Mermaid" danced to Madonna's "Vogue". My kids were rockin' right along with them!! Favorite moments and characters from "The Little Mermaid", "Tangled" and "Brave" gave us thrill after thrill with amazing ice acrobatics, and hillarious comedic twists. "Beauty and the Beast" warmed our hearts and brought back memories of my kids watching it for the first time.
We don't live near Disney, but that night we were able to taste the magic. We left the Kansas City Sprint Center smiling, and my kids fell asleep with magical images that only Disney can create. Afterall.."A Dream is a wish your heart makes.."

Crazy about Disney (are you surprised?)

It's no secret that our family are HUGE Disney fans. We can often call it epic, but it is a known fact that we are all pretty proud of. We have gone to Disneyland too many times to count,&experienced "Cars Land" last Summer for Allan's birthday. When Caits was our only kiddo, we took our first (and as of yet), ONLY trip to Walt Disney World, and were fortunate to go on a Disney Cruise. It was on that very cruise that we met our lifelong Disney-loving friends, the Potter family. We even have a family motto that is inspired by Walt himself to "..keep moving forward". Disney is all about family, and we love that connection.
So when we were given the opportunity to go see "Disney On Ice" at the sprint center...we JUMPED at the chance. And, as a reader of my blog, you can too. This amazing show is coming to the Sprint Center in Kansas City:

So, as an added bonus, let's have a little fun. Each of our family members has a favorite character and movie. My favorite character is "Tarzan", and "The Lion King" has a special place in my heart, as it was the first date for Allan and I. One lucky reader will win a family 4 pack of tickets to see "Disney on Ice" courtesy of my friends at Feld Entertainment. Look for a question that you can find the answer to in this post. Answer correctly, and I will draw a lucky family to go see this amazing show! See my facebook page for details, and good luck!!

Arena Cross Craziness

On Saturday we headed down to Kansas City for another new family adventure, this time up: ARENA CROSS. After seeing "Nuclear Cowboyz" a months ago, I knew motorcycles were a hit. What none of us was prepared for was the non-stop craziness of arena cross. The hills were insane (are they called "hills"?), and I didn't expect the crashes...oh my heck. Colby was GLUED. He couldn't take his eyes off of the track. The non-stop heats, and tricks were incredible. An added treat was the mini's doing a race. This group of under 8 years of age were ADORABLE, this immediately got all of my kids attention, as they realized it was something THEY could do (umm...Mom-o-meter says "No"). After the races, we were treated to meeting the riders and getting autographs. Cwynn liked the "Monster" girls the best, while Caits, Colby and Calleya each picked drivers they liked (or were "cute" in my teens opinion. lol). Walking to the car, the highest compliment was paid.."Hey Mom, when can we come back and see that again".  Awesome Family Fun : ACHIEVED!!!!

Arena Cross!!

Ever since we were able to attend "Nuclear Cowboyz", my kids have been into motorcycles. They play with the toy ones, they watch the races on TV, they are really into it. Imagine the complete chaos I have created when I told them we are going to "Arena Cross" this Saturday at the Sprint Center in Kansas City. I have been named the "coolest Mom EVER!" by my 8 year old, and my little tom-boy princess Calleya has been busy practicing her best "stank-face" so she looks like the riders. LOL. Needless to say, with all of the snow that has crippled Kansas (and more coming today), the kids are excited to get out of town and see the racers do their thing!!

So, my Kansas peeps..if you are looking for something to go do this weekend that doesn't involve the cold, white stuff..this may just be your ticket!!

Monster Truck Madness!!

I confess, I have never been a big Monster Truck fan. When I had two boys, I knew that my days were numbered and one day I would be going to be dragged kicking and screaming to one of these events. Well, minus the kicking and screaming (lol), I experienced my first taste of the Monster Truck phenomenon. Oh my words, it was probably one of the most entertaining things I have ever seen.

Was it loud? Oh my heck YES, enough to make my skin get chills. My kids get pretty excited about things, but I have NEVER seen Colby jump off his seat and cheer the way he did when "Grave Digger" came out. The boy had a smile I haven't seen in a very long time, it was wonderful! Even Caitlyn who truly was dragged along, exclaimed, "It was actually really fun Mom, I was surprised!". Stop the presses, my teenager liked something that was not her idea, or in the realm of something she liked. Wonders never cease. There were great moments, one in particular actually had me choking up. Before the show the started playing "God Bless America", and asked for any active duty military in the audience to stand up, then veterans etc. They then asked for family members of these brave men and women to stand. As my kids all proudly stood up, "For Daddy", I was impressed to hear them say, " We want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for allowing us to have the freedom to sit here tonight." Well played. Right from the rev of the first engine, my kids were captivated. They cheered, they booed the judges low scores, and they were on their feet clapping like crazy as the drivers emerged to claim their trophies! After two hours of non-stop fun, I thought my kids would be ready to drop. No..they waited in line for almost an hour to have the drivers sign their souvenirs!! After such an amazing evening, I can safely say we will DEFINATELY be coming back to "Monster Jam".

BEST. DAY. EVER

On Friday we decided we needed a little distraction after saying goodbye to Daddy as he left for NTC, where he will be for a month. Independence, MO here we come!!! Phineas and Ferb: Live was playing, and we had tickets to the 4pm show. I had never been to Independence before, and I was surprised how nice the venue was (and free parking is always a bonus!). From the moment we entered the front door, it was a party scene. "104 days of Summer vacation" serenaded us over the speakers, and the kids caught sight of the coveted souvenir stand that had everything a true fan could want.

The show was great. The kids were glued to the stage as their favorite characters came to life, and attempted to make summer last all year long. Favorite songs from the show had Colby, Calleya and Cwynn dancing in the aisle. For almost two hours my kids were captivated, transported to the world of Phineas and Ferb. We cheered when Perry appeared, and boo'ed Doctor D, when he captured him. I LOVED that they included Candace singing, "Squirrels in my pants" it was hillarious! As we left the arena, my 6 year old pronounce it to be the, "Best. Day. Ever. Mom!!"
