Disney did it AGAIN!!!

Last week we were one of the lucky families able to take advantage of seeing "Disney on Ice: Celebrate" at the sprint center in Kansas City. To say that it was amazing, would be an understatement. From the moment the curtain went up, my kids (and I, for that matter), were transfixed..eyes glued to the stories unfolding on the ice before us. From the outstanding lineup of characters from Peter Pan to Jack Skellington to the phenomenal music that accompanied it, the show was a delight!
We have been to many Disney on Ice shows over the years, our kids have grown up watching their beloved Disney icons glide across the ice in front of them. This year, Cwynn was 4 1/2 and really GOT IT. He clapped along with the music, cheered for his heroes and booed the villains. He seemed to be enchanted by the pixie dust that can only be felt at one of these shows. As a parent, especially these days, finding a good wholesome activity to take your family to, is sometimes difficult. I never have to worry, year after year..Disney truly out does itself!!!

Amazing Grace

Early February 2nd, my hero and protector, my Dad...went to the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. My heart broke that day, and still has a void that cannot be filled. His life, his very personality, was larger than anything that could be contained on earth. He was a spiritual giant, that loved his family. I watched my sweet babies mourn the passing of their Papa, and I felt like they were robbed of future memories with a man that adored each and every one of them. His greatest joy came when he became a Papa.

I was given a gift, before he passed, of spending a week in Arizona with he and my Mom. There were amazing moments, when I was able to sit and hold his hand, talk about my life and things in the future. He told me as often as he could, how much he loved me during that trip...Dad, I already knew. I felt your love in the tears of pride that were shed on my graduation from High School, when I danced with you at my wedding, and when you held each of your grandbabies for the very first time. It was the little moments with you, that I treasure, and dearly miss. The night before I left Arizona to fly back to Kansas, I slept in the hospital, alongside my Mom and was able to hug and kiss my Dad goodbye, and again hear those sweet words he uttered as he looked into my eyes and said, "I love you Amy!". Oh how precious a moment I was given, the last I would spend with him in this life.
Thank you Dad, for teaching me to be good to those around me. To treasure my moments with my children, and Allan. To not be afraid to love with all my heart, without caring who saw me express it. You taught me to cherish the scriptures, and to love my Heavenly Father, and the gospel he blessed us with. You showed me the importance of the atonement of Christ, and how through his sacrifice we all will be saved, if we but follow him. I am so very blessed to know that our family is eternal, and that like our savior, will live again when our journey ends on earth.
Caitlyn sang my Dad's favorite song at his funeral, and I know, with tears running down his cheeks..he whispered the words along with her, "Amazing grace, how sweet the sound..."

Ravin' over Disney On Ice: Rockin' ever After!!

From The opening curtain, my family was mesmerized. We LOVE Disney, that is not a surprise to anyone who knows our family, and "Disney On Ice : Rockin' Ever After" was another example of why we always will!! I couldn't stop smiling as I watched my family so enraptured as their beloved stories came alive on the ice in front of us. The colors were incredible, and the music had everyone jumping and dancing. A favorite moment came when Ariel's sisters and Sebastian from "The Little Mermaid" danced to Madonna's "Vogue". My kids were rockin' right along with them!! Favorite moments and characters from "The Little Mermaid", "Tangled" and "Brave" gave us thrill after thrill with amazing ice acrobatics, and hillarious comedic twists. "Beauty and the Beast" warmed our hearts and brought back memories of my kids watching it for the first time.
We don't live near Disney, but that night we were able to taste the magic. We left the Kansas City Sprint Center smiling, and my kids fell asleep with magical images that only Disney can create. Afterall.."A Dream is a wish your heart makes.."

Crazy about Disney (are you surprised?)

It's no secret that our family are HUGE Disney fans. We can often call it epic, but it is a known fact that we are all pretty proud of. We have gone to Disneyland too many times to count,&experienced "Cars Land" last Summer for Allan's birthday. When Caits was our only kiddo, we took our first (and as of yet), ONLY trip to Walt Disney World, and were fortunate to go on a Disney Cruise. It was on that very cruise that we met our lifelong Disney-loving friends, the Potter family. We even have a family motto that is inspired by Walt himself to "..keep moving forward". Disney is all about family, and we love that connection.
So when we were given the opportunity to go see "Disney On Ice" at the sprint center...we JUMPED at the chance. And, as a reader of my blog, you can too. This amazing show is coming to the Sprint Center in Kansas City:

So, as an added bonus, let's have a little fun. Each of our family members has a favorite character and movie. My favorite character is "Tarzan", and "The Lion King" has a special place in my heart, as it was the first date for Allan and I. One lucky reader will win a family 4 pack of tickets to see "Disney on Ice" courtesy of my friends at Feld Entertainment. Look for a question that you can find the answer to in this post. Answer correctly, and I will draw a lucky family to go see this amazing show! See my facebook page for details, and good luck!!

Arena Cross Craziness

On Saturday we headed down to Kansas City for another new family adventure, this time up: ARENA CROSS. After seeing "Nuclear Cowboyz" a months ago, I knew motorcycles were a hit. What none of us was prepared for was the non-stop craziness of arena cross. The hills were insane (are they called "hills"?), and I didn't expect the crashes...oh my heck. Colby was GLUED. He couldn't take his eyes off of the track. The non-stop heats, and tricks were incredible. An added treat was the mini's doing a race. This group of under 8 years of age were ADORABLE, this immediately got all of my kids attention, as they realized it was something THEY could do (umm...Mom-o-meter says "No"). After the races, we were treated to meeting the riders and getting autographs. Cwynn liked the "Monster" girls the best, while Caits, Colby and Calleya each picked drivers they liked (or were "cute" in my teens opinion. lol). Walking to the car, the highest compliment was paid.."Hey Mom, when can we come back and see that again".  Awesome Family Fun : ACHIEVED!!!!
