I confess, I have never been a big Monster Truck fan. When I had two boys, I knew that my days were numbered and one day I would be going to be dragged kicking and screaming to one of these events. Well, minus the kicking and screaming (lol), I experienced my first taste of the Monster Truck phenomenon. Oh my words, it was probably one of the most entertaining things I have ever seen.
Was it loud? Oh my heck YES, enough to make my skin get chills. My kids get pretty excited about things, but I have NEVER seen Colby jump off his seat and cheer the way he did when "Grave Digger" came out. The boy had a smile I haven't seen in a very long time, it was wonderful! Even Caitlyn who truly was dragged along, exclaimed, "It was actually really fun Mom, I was surprised!". Stop the presses, my teenager liked something that was not her idea, or in the realm of something she liked. Wonders never cease. There were great moments, one in particular actually had me choking up. Before the show the started playing "God Bless America", and asked for any active duty military in the audience to stand up, then veterans etc. They then asked for family members of these brave men and women to stand. As my kids all proudly stood up, "For Daddy", I was impressed to hear them say, " We want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for allowing us to have the freedom to sit here tonight." Well played. Right from the rev of the first engine, my kids were captivated. They cheered, they booed the judges low scores, and they were on their feet clapping like crazy as the drivers emerged to claim their trophies! After two hours of non-stop fun, I thought my kids would be ready to drop. No..they waited in line for almost an hour to have the drivers sign their souvenirs!! After such an amazing evening, I can safely say we will DEFINATELY be coming back to "Monster Jam".
